GUJCET exam pattern, marking scheme and how to prepare
Gujarat Common Entrance Test
GUJCET has 120 multiple-choice questions, 40 each from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, with 1 mark for a correct answer and 0.25 deducted for a wrong one. Physics and Chemistry share a 120-minute paper and Maths has a separate 60-minute paper. Engineering merit combines Class 12 board marks with the GUJCET score.

Total 120 marks. Physics and Chemistry are written together in 120 minutes; Mathematics is a separate 60-minute paper.
How your merit is decided
Published summaries of the ACPC process say the engineering merit list gives 60% weight to Class 12 board marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and 40% to the GUJCET percentile. That means board marks matter at least as much as the entrance score, so a strong Class 12 paper is part of your GUJCET preparation.
What the pattern means for you
- Negative marking is small (0.25), so guess only when you can remove at least one option.
- Maths has 60 minutes for 40 questions: practise short, accurate calculation.
- Physics and Chemistry share 120 minutes, so decide in advance how to split the time between them.
- Because board marks count for 60%, revise the textbook units the board paper tests as well.
Concepts to revise first
Each is a one-minute animated lesson, in English and Hindi, with the exam-style answer written out. They cover the Class 11 and 12 ideas this route tests; CogniGuru does not have GUJCET-specific question banks.

Common questions
- Is there negative marking in GUJCET?
- Yes. For the 2026 cycle each wrong answer cost 0.25 marks, each correct answer gave 1 mark and unattempted questions scored zero.
- How many marks is GUJCET out of?
- 120 marks: 40 questions each from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, at 1 mark each.
- Do Class 12 board marks count towards engineering admission in Gujarat?
- According to published summaries of the ACPC merit rule, yes: 60% weight to Class 12 board marks in the three subjects and 40% to the GUJCET percentile. Check the ACPC booklet for your year.
- Will CogniGuru give me GUJCET mock papers?
- Not yet. CogniGuru explains the Class 11 and 12 concepts that GUJCET tests, one minute at a time, with the exam-style answer written out. It does not have GUJCET question banks or mock tests, so use the official previous papers for practice.
