AI for Class 7: what CBSE teaches
The short answer
Class 7 AI covers the main kinds of prediction (classification, regression, clustering), the big AI domains (computer vision, natural language processing, data science), AI in industries, charts and data, and bias. It is 20 hours of AI inside a 100-hour computational thinking and AI plan.
The four AI units in Class 7 (5 hours each)
- AI domains: classification, regression and clustering with hands-on practice on a small dataset, plus computer vision, natural language processing and data science (chatbots, image recognition, translation).
- AI in industries: healthcare, education, transport and communication, and how AI improves accuracy, efficiency and productivity.
- Data visualisation and analysis: collecting structured data, making bar charts, line graphs and pie charts, and reading patterns.
- Ethics and bias awareness: what bias in AI means, case examples, responsible and fair use, digital citizenship.
Is it compulsory?
The CT and AI framework applies to Classes 3-8 from 2026-27, delivered through worksheets and projects across subjects and assessed by project work. Ask your school how it runs.
One-minute lessons that explain it
Try at home
- Sort a handful of fruits into groups without naming the groups first. Then ask the family to guess your rule. That is clustering.
- Ask: if a photo app only saw pictures of one kind of face, who might it get wrong? That is bias.

Common questions
- What are classification, regression and clustering?
- Regression predicts a number from past data. Classification puts things into groups learned from labelled examples. Clustering groups similar items automatically without labels.
- What is bias in AI?
- When an AI system gives unfair results because the data it learned from was unbalanced or incomplete.
